A Letter from the Founder

A few words, before the journey begins.

Dear Traveller,

I founded Ongeri Expeditions for one reason — because I believed Africa deserved to be told a different way. Not louder. Not more polished. Truer.

I grew up here. Born and raised in Kisii — a few hours' drive from the Masai Mara ecosystem — I learned this land long before I learned to sell it. I have watched the migration thunder across the Mara before the world arrived to photograph it. I have sat beside elders who remember the names of every tree, and tracked leopard at dawn with guides who could read the savannah like scripture. This continent is not a backdrop to me. It is home.

So when I built this company, I did not build it as a transaction. I built it as a welcome.

We listen first. We ask better questions. We work only with camps and guides whose values match our own, and we walk away from the ones whose do not. Every itinerary that leaves our desk has been weighed, refined, and quietly stress-tested by people who care.

What you will not get from us is a checklist of attractions. What you will get is a journey shaped around who you are — your pace, your curiosity, your appetite for stillness or adventure. You will get our personal numbers. You will get a team that answers when something goes sideways, day or night. And you will get, I hope, a quiet kind of magic that lingers long after you leave.

Africa changes people. I have seen it happen many times — sometimes in a single sunrise. My role is to open that door for you, thoughtfully, and then to step back and let the continent do what only it can.
